RAVENSTONE
NORWEGIAN ELKHOUNDS
ESTABLISHED 1953

Up until 2008 - The longest Established ACTIVE Norwegian Elkhound Family in the United Kingdom.

RAVENSTONE were delighted to achieve the “Breed Record” for the number of UK Champions owned and/or bred in 2004.

Special thanks to our owners over the years for the very large part they have played in helping us to reach this total. Most of the 37 Champions have been homebred and founded on the famous Fourwents/Ardenwood/Coddington bloodlines.

An early Ravenstone Champion.
She was still winning Challenge Certificates and other major awards at 9 years of age, including under Norwegian breed specialist, Miss Gerd Berbom (Jarlsberg).
Daughter of two Champions, Dam of Two Champions.

The RAVENSTONES were owned, loved and bred by Margaret and Ted Harper.

Sadly Margaret died suddenly on the 2nd June 2008, a tragic blow to Ted, their family and the Norwegian Elkhound World.

Ted has now joined his late wife, as he sadly also passed away on 12th February 2010.

This website will continue to be administered as a lasting tribute to Margaret, Ted and the Ravenstones.

You can contact the webmistress with any contributions or comments, and of course you can use the Guest book.

The welfare of their puppies after they left Margaret and Ted was very important to them, out of sight never meant out of mind!

Margaret's prime aim in the breed was to see it progress and maintain it’s quality, and with that in mind was instrumental in numerous importations on her own and in partnership with others to bring in dogs to enhance the UK bloodlines.

The last Importation was with friends Gill Bingham (Steldawn) and Maureen Lake (Maubrea) of VÆSJAN’S MARTELL from Norway in July 2006 to introduce more new bloodlines in a continuing attempt to try to safely enlarge the breed gene pool in this country.

A litter from VÆSJAN’S MARTELL and Ravenstone Countess Freya was born at Ravenstone in October 2006, 3 dogs and 3 bitches.

SADLY THIS WAS DESTINED TO BE THE LAST RAVENSTONE LITTER, but check out the ‘Influence’ page for news of litters of Ravenstone lines.

SO PLEASE VISIT AGAIN.
